Jules Blanc

Your website should do two things: support the business, and be better than what your competitors have.

Faster, easier to find, better looking, easier to buy from. That's the job, and I do all of it myself.

I'm Jules Blanc. I'm a lead software engineer in London, and UNCCUB is where I do that job for small and mid-sized businesses. Some come to me for search, some for a Shopify storefront, some for a new site. Some already have a site they like and just want someone senior to look at it and tell them the truth.

Here's why that's worth something to you.

The day job is high stakes. I lead engineering on a healthcare data platform that 600 private hospitals and 15,000 senior doctors are legally required to submit through, under an order from the Competition and Markets Authority. I was the main developer on the 18-month rebuild of the portal they all use. It cannot be slow, it cannot be wrong, and it cannot go down. Your site is smaller than that, which is the point: the standard I bring to it is the same, and the problems that terrify most freelancers are things I deal with on a Tuesday.

I work on search itself. For the past year the job has been training the models that decide whether a page is relevant to what someone typed into a search box. Most SEO people have read about how search engines rank content. I build the thing that does the ranking. So when I tell you why your competitor appears for a search and you don't, it's not a guess from a checklist.

I've been on your side of the table. I co-founded a startup, and before that I was the person trusted with the production website and every release at a mobility company. I know what it's like when the site is the business and there's no one to call. That's the gap I fill.

What "one person" actually means

Most web projects go designer, then developer, then someone managing both. Every handoff loses something, and every person on the chain is a cost. I design the interface, I build it, and I put it live. Network Ace is what that produces: the brand, the pages, the code, the launch, one person. When you see something on that site you like, the person who made it is the person you'd be emailing.

Leading teams also means the unglamorous parts get done properly. Honest scoping. A plan that survives the first week. Telling you when something isn't worth paying for. You'll always know where the project is without having to ask.

Four ways in

You want advice, not a project. You have a site or a setup you're mostly happy with and a question about it. Performance, a platform choice, why something isn't working, whether a supplier is telling you the truth. I'll look properly and give you a straight answer you can act on, with no pitch attached.

Your site is slow or invisible in search. I find out why and fix it on the site you already have.

You run a Shopify shop on a stock theme. I build a custom storefront on top of it. Products, checkout and orders stay exactly where they are.

The current site is holding the business back. I design and build a new one.

Whichever door you come in through, the result is the same: a site that looks like it was made for your business, because it was.

How it starts

Send me a few lines about the problem and a link. I'll look at the actual site before I reply, and I'll tell you what I'd fix, what I'd leave, and whether you need me at all. Most people hear back within a day.
